(We will be releasing 3 groups of new functionalities in the coming days. This is part one, we will follow up with embedding and online business prezi deliveries)
Today we have officially published major new features after a very exciting development session.
These features are not just updates or new options you can choose, when creating a prezi. We have just stepped on a brand new road that offers a lot of new possibilities for everybody.
Published prezi Page

When founders Peter and Adam created Prezi, they wanted the author to stand in the spotlight live on stage, and the tool to stay in the background providing a remarkable visual aid to the speech. Prezi – initially meant to be a presentation tool, gradually grew into an online storytelling tool, with pages like Financial Times or Techcrunch embedding it to show content – eventually becoming a new medium. To help this process, which is very exciting for us, first we bring you the published prezi page.
Published prezi page now offers:
- If you make a prezi public, this will be a new home for it. Visitors can see other public prezis by you, a selection of popular prezis, and advanced sharing tools
- a new embed feature that lets you fully customize the size and playback mode of your work. Choose simple navigation to roll through a prezi with single clicks anywhere on the embedded window, or free navigation that gives you the possibility to separately click objects and frames as well just as you were showing your prezi with the editor. (More about embed, and a new, simpler way to create this code, will be in the upcoming blogpost)
- a new autoplay mode which allows you to just sit back, relax and watch the show
- options to share on Twitter and Facebook with a single click, and send your prezi instantly in a fine designed email
- a box to say something nice to the author, or simple pat on the back to say ‘Hey, nice job!’
The new showcase

When make a prezi public, we automatically monitor how popular it becomes by counting the number of hits it gets out there. Every week, our system introduces a new selection of the most popular public prezis and publishes them in the showcase. We also keep an eye on your work, select and pick prezis that we find most interesting every week. Clicking a prezi’s thumbnail in the new showcase now leads you to the published prezi page, so you can check other public works from the same author, leave him/her a nice message, or share that cool prezi straight away.
These developments point to the direction of a more social Prezi site, where you get even more options to manage your prezis, get inspired by other authors great works, customize and share your projects. None of these could have ever been created without your support, so thanks a lot for your comments, emails, posts and tweets about Prezi, and please keep on sharing your thoughts!
What more is coming
We will roll out a new feature, where Pro and Enjoy customers can deliver, show a prezi to their clients, bosses, in a secure, very clean, non-branded no-logo format, using password protection, option to download, technical help, etc. So you won’t need to send those huge downloaded prezis in emails any more.
And end this release cycle with an updated prezi.com/my page, to support all the above features.

Looking forward to the private sharing of prezis!! this is something I really need.
Congrats on all the great work.
It is heartening to see the new Prezi developments and the increasing pace of change. The new showcase format is welcome; using the embedding approach is quite effective. A best practices tutorial focused on images—how best to capture them, proper attention to resolution, sensible zoom strategies and the like—would be very helpful at this time.
I look forward to the other changes you at Prezi have in mind and under development.
Speaking of images, it would be wonderful if it were possible to drag and drop images into the PreziDesktop application.
I am highly disappointed to the search function of the public prezi’s removed. I was recently introduced to Prezi by my University Professor and a few weeks ago you were able to search out other presentations to see various design ideas. This was particularly useful as a newcomer.
Yet a few weeks later, I am no longer able to seek out other presentations except for what you choose me to find. If I want to view other “portfolio’s” I am no longer able to do it. Please put that function back!!
Thank you!
hi, thanks for your feedback, soon we’ll have this feature back again, so keep in touch!
Hi There,
Thanks for these great updates! Is their any plans for adding audio narration to a prezi? I work in distance learning and the ability to add voice overs would really benefit our students.
Sean
hi, thanks!
Thank you for your suggestion. While we can not promise anything specific, we regularly consider ideas, input from users.
hey,
you can search prezis here, experimental but works.

wow, cool! You can search the Prezi showcase and your MyPage as well with Prezi searchbar
Looks nice, but wouldn’t it be possible to make the icons for presentation (forward, back etc.) a little bit smaller, so that all icons (fullscreen, autoplay) are visible all time?
Hi, we don’t have intentions to do that but thanks for your feedback. Our point is to have the navigation bar as simple as possible, while adding the optional play modes on a different place.
Hi Guys. Prezi is fantastic and i’m a complete convert from Powerpoint. Having a small problem though. On ’show’ I cant seem to stop each image/text box filling the entire screen or not centred and I want to be able to adjust the zoom/position (and this adjustment then saved) to help create more imapct using space around an image/text. Can you let me know how or if this can be changed? Many thanks. David
Hi David,
You should drag a frame around sets of content, and add the path on the frames instead of the content within them. These frames will then be act as bordes of a set in show mode. This way the contents of a frame will be visualized in fullscreen mode and not a specific piece of content.
Yes, voice would be awesome! I could save so much time teaching if I had audio and video together, just like a classroom.
I would like to search Showcase by Author – can I do that? If not does that mean I have to include my name in the title/description for it to be searchable? Guess so. Comment above above a Portfolio search, but I came after it disappeared. Mike
If Prezi could do three things, it would turn into an effective online presentation medium as well as a strong medium for in-person presentations: (1) help the user distinguish the audio track from the video track in a video recording of someone’s presentation; (2) help the user extract video clips from the video track in a video recording and (3) allow the Prezi user to invoke the audio as a constant while the video moves back and forth between the video clips and the other Prezi objects in the presentation. With those three functional features at his disposal the Prezi user could begin by simply making a video recording of his presentation; then he would design Prezi objects to accentuate and emphasize various points for the audience’s experience of the video talk; then he would build a Prezi with the audio running in the background while he clips out portions of the video track, allowing him to flip back and forth between video clips of the presentation and Prezi clips that become visible in place of the clipped out segments.
These three features would allow Prezi users to design their presentations in a natural way where the presenter can make finer judgments about the impact of the Prezi objects relative to those sections of the presentation when the audience no longer needs to look at the Prezi screen and their attention returns to the person of the presenter. More important, the presenter can lay out the entire presentation and slot in the Prezi objects rather than the considerably more difficult and daunting task of having to build up the presentation from the bottom up.
Hi, thanks for the ideas! We usually consider our user’s suggestion but cannot promise to develop everything.
Is there a way to embed links into a prezi presentation? Where the embed would show up and can play during the Prezi presentation?
yes you can embed links to a prezi. you can also embed media files. plesase chek the prezi manual for details: http://prezi.com/manual/#insertvideo
I am a paid customer. When I download my Prezi preso for offline use and open the preso, it comes up with the Prezi logo while it is loading. Is there a way for this not to come up?
One of prezi’s “learn” videos shows how to put a frame around a group of smaller frames. Then it’s supposed to be possible to move the whole “contraption” around, meaning you can use the Place function to move everything enclosed within the largest frame. I can’t get this to work. I’m only able to move the frame itself or an individual object within the larger frame.
Have I misunderstood the video?
Hi, you can move groups of objcts indeed with the Zebra tool. To do that, you must press and hold the shift key, then drag a rectangle around the required objects wuth your mouse pressing and holding the left button. When you release the button, the Zebra will appear over the whole group of selection and you are ready to move the group togeter.
First of all: fantastic!
Secondly: a drag-and-group feature would be more helpful than the shift-click scenario.
Lastly: to echo others’ comments – definitely would be ideal to have audio narration – preferably with the option for one audio file across all elements (in addition for ability for element-linked audio)
Thanks, Prezi! Great product.
Hi, thanks! The features you mention are ones that we are aware of. Btw you can add sound narration in .flv format (like music on youtube). You can cover your flv-s with images and add the path to the flv. This way you can add sound clips to every path step. Learn more here: http://prezi.com/learn/insert-sound/preview/
Dammit!
I just typed a whole long message, and when I tried to submit it my Internet Explorer crashed.
Was it somehow saved or do I need to retype the whole thing?
Please try again.
