Less menus, more options. Easier text editing, upgraded Transformation Zebra and YouTube integration: the new editor has half the menus of its predecessor, while it has more features and a welcome video as a bonus.
See the complete feature list and changes after the jump. For detailed feature introduction, see the updated Prezi Manual or watch a prezi of all the changes complete with keyboard shortcuts!
Edit Mode:
- Text and Place modes have been merged into a single bubble called Write.
- Double click anywhere on the canvas to create new texts or edit existing ones.
- Click any object once to select it and use the Transformation Zebra tool.
- Text and paragraph styles are now shown and can be switched when a textbox is created/edited.
- Import YouTube videos by double-clicking to open a textbox, then paste in the YouTube video’s link.
Show Mode:
- Use Show mode to navigate and present your prezi.
- In Show mode all the menus, including the main menu, are set to autohide, and appear when you move your mouse near them.
- Use the UP and DOWN arrow, your scrollwheel, or the Zoom buttons for zooming while presenting, but not SPACEBAR, since it is the mode switcher key now. Press SPACEBAR while Editing to quit a submenu, press again to switch to Show mode, and again to switch back. You can do this forever, or even just hold down SPACEBAR, to enter Show mode temporarily as long as you release the key. Takes longer to describe than to do it: just go ahead and try it now.
- Use LEFT and RIGHT arrow keys to step forward and backward while presenting.
- Full screen now can be reached from the Show menu as well as from the bottom-right Navigation tools.
Transformation Zebra:
There is a new button, a + sign, on Prezi’s emblematic editing tool indicating a new sub-menu: Bring Forward (previously Up), Send Backward (previously Down), Duplicate, Delete and Select more (add new objects to a group selection).
Path:
- Pressing Path will enable you to add an object to your path right away.
- Press Delete All to delete the whole path.
- New feature: Capture View, indicated by a camera icon, creates a bracket frame from the current view, and adds it to the end of the path.
Name changes:
- Style is now Colors & Fonts.
- Line menu is now called Shapes. You can find Shapes under the Insert menu.
- Media menu is now called Insert. You can upload a file to your prezi under Insert menu.
Hotkey changes:
- Pressing SPACEBAR serves as a toggle between Show and Edit mode. If you are in a sub-menu, pressing SPACEBAR takes you back to the main Bubble menu.
- Pressing and holding SPACEBAR will take you temporarily to Show mode. While there, you can navigate or click with the mouse, or use the LEFT/RIGHT arrows to move back and forth in the path the path. When you release SPACEBAR, you get back to Edit mode.
- ESC serves to remove fullscreen, if applicable.
- In Show mode the LEFT and RIGHT keys will move you on the path backward and forward respectively. UP and DOWN keys will zoom in and out. Zooming out with the DOWN arrow works as Smart Zoom: it brings you up to the next largest enclosing or crossing frame object.
- There are new shortcuts for some of the menu functions. The Frames menu can be reached by pressing ‘F’. Pressing ‘S’ takes you to Shapes menu. Loading a file is possible by pressing ‘L’ and Path menu can be reached by pressing ‘P’.
- You can use CTRL+D for duplicating an object, and you can use CTRL+Z, CTRL+Y and CTRL+S for Undo, Redo, Save respectively.
Other:
- Easy to reach Zoom Buttons help you at the right edge of the canvas.
- Undo/Redo, Save and Exit are now in the upper right corner, together with Help.
- There is a friendly welcome video when you open the new editor for the first time: it helps you get up and running in 3 minutes.
Feel free to play around with the new editor while retaining access to the old editor. You can choose which one to work with till February 8 — to avoid the stress of learning new features and names just before an upcoming presentation. On Feb 8, the old editor will permanently retire, and will have a nice poster in the Prezi Hall of Fame. Beware: once a YouTube video has been inserted, you can only open and edit your prezi with the new editor. We’re excited to get your feedback!

I don’t understand about the U turn arrow. I’m not getting that. When I hold down the back arrow, nothing happens.
Hi Marsha,
Please see this page. On the illustration the forward arrow has been pressed and hold. This makes the autoplay mode appear. If you do the same with the backward button, you should see the “U turn” restart button sliding out. Maybe you have tried with the wrong button? http://prezi.com/learn/auto-play-prezi/
Hi there – Just a few of points/questions:-
1 – I would like to choose a specific font to use – There are a limited number of fonts to choose from – Is this likely to improve with further releases?
2 – I would like to be able to upload Quicktime movies – currently you can only upload .FLV files.
3 – It would be nice if you could group items.
4 – It would be good if you could add “effects” to elements like fade in or fade out (like powerpoint effects).
Thanks
Mark
Hi Mark,
1 we don’t have that feature.
2 you can upload YouTube videos now too, sorry, no quicktime support
3 you can group select (and manipulate) items by dragging a rectangle around them while holding the shift key. You can show items in a group by placing a frame around it.
4 thanks for the idea, but I think we will not go to that direction
Thanks for your feedback!
Hi, I want to add a request for either Quicktime or MP4 video uploads options. I often use a Flip, and it would be wonderful to integrate those clips–I have to have my tech convert everything to Flash, and it would be so much better not to go through that. Are the non-Flash files just to big or not generic enough? What’s the issue? My students often use Flips to generate video content, and I want them to have an easy way to integrate them into their own presentations. I love the product, but I am not thrilled about the video issues or the way Flash breaks up. Any suggestions about any of this? HG
Hi, thanks for your interest in Prezi. Right now you can add 3 video types to a prezi:
1. swf
2. flv
3. YouTube
Thanks for your idea, about expanding this we are aware of your request. We cannot promise anything about feature developments though.
Please support local language by support UTF-8 and allow use local TTF font in “end user desktop PC”.
Hi, we are working on supporting more fonts and font sets. The thing is, we also need to update our system to be able to support more non latin fonts
I can’t figure out how to select multiple objects anymore. Also, I miss the ESC hotkey. I didn’t find the changes very useful.
Hi Andres,
Selecting multiple objects did not change. Go to Write mode, and hold the shift key as you drag a rectangle around elements you want to select. Instead of the esc. hotkey you now have the space to switch between show mode and edit mode. Takes a few minutes to get used to these changes, we hope you’ll like them once you played with them for a while.
1. After editing with Prezi Desktop offline editor, sometimes all presentation thumbnails disappear. They reappear after closing and restarting program.
2. When exporting with Prezi Desktop, the prezi.exe file and the prezi.app folder do not export. The presentation cannot be viewed at all when only the data folder are decompressed without the program files.
Love Prezi, It would be cool if we could embed the prezi player in a Prezi.
Also would suggest feature to export text only as this would assist when handouts/notes are required for presentation.
I’m not happy with the upgrade. Nothing works since the upgrade, even the adobe air installer keeps crashing and day after tomorrow I have an important presentation. What’s going on?
Hi Remco,
Sorry to hear you have issues since the upgrade. Please send me an email woth your details, so we could have the chance to analyze what can go wrong for you and find a solution!
Zoli,
I found the U-turn arrow. Thanks for your help. Also, text is working fine for me now.
Will there ever be a faster way to select bigger sets of items instead of holding shift + click? Also adding a “bold” letter functionaility would help greatly. Any word on the next “patch” update?
Hi Zoli,
I’m looking for info on how to create frames and how to create frames “from view” that was in the old system.
Thanks,
K-
Hi, we have a new updated learn center where you will find every information about this. Please check http://prezi.com/learn/
I have created a Prezi presentation offline with the 30 days trial. How can I use it online? Can I upload it?
Thanks
Hi Francisco,
sure you can upload your prezis to your online account. Log in through the desktop application then just drag and drop your prezis to the right side of your screen to your online account.
I am using the free Educational version with new editor. Have built a fabulous Prezi but the WATERMARK will not fade away so it sits in front of my presentation at all times
Can’t find a way to get rid of it (or at least minimize it during the presentation.
Hi Julia,
can you please send me a screenshot of this in email to zoltan.radnai@prezi.com? Thanks!
Can I saved the presentation in my desktop or pendrive? So in the case that I do not have conecction to internet at the meeting, I can just use my laptop or another computer to see the presentation?
Many thanks, I will wait for your replay. Claudia
Hi Claudia,
Of course you can. Once downloaded or exported, any prezi can be stored on a thumbdrive or your desktop. Please always save the whole folder, not just the prezi.exe/.app file inside. The whole package is needed to launch prezis on your computer. No additional software or internet connection is needed.

I will love it !
Hello:
I use prezi for corporate presentations (paying for the PRO license), love it and believe all is for its author(s) to listen to the growing user base to see its usage explode!
Now, I am facing a heart breaking dilemna: the latest version shows a prezi-branded animation when a presentation loads (in effect an ad for prezi) which is very intrusive and forces me to abandon usage (same situation if each word document showed a microsoft logo when opening)
Do you relate to how significant this issue is? A quick reaction would be apreciated.
Many thanks,
– PS
hi, how do you control how much the prezi zooms in during show time..Otherwise it’s fine, but there are some times when it zooms in too much and not all the text is visible :S
Thanks!
You can control the Prezi zooms with the path when presenting, or by clicking selected elements. The easiest way is to set up a path for the prezi so during your talk you should only hit the arrows of the navigation bar.

hi, how do you control how much the prezi zooms in during show time?
You add the path to elements in the prezi. Prezi will zoom onto the elements when you show. The bigger the size difference is among elements, the bigger the zoom will become.
