Export a Prezi From the Desktop Software

2

Many of you have asked whether exporting from the desktop software would be available soon. Well, we have just finished working on it so now you can export your presentation even without internet connection. As you can see on the screenshot above, you just have to click the export button on the upper right corner of your stickie to get a .zip package with all the necessery files to open and play a Prezi whenever you want.

Previously, this feature was only available using Prezi's online editor. We hope that exporting from the desktop editor makes it easier to work with bigger files since you don't have to upload first, then download the .zip package anymore. Furthermore, this feature allows our users to create a presentation, store on your hard drives or export it to any external drives totally independent from internet connection.

Please share some of your ideas on this! Do you prefer using the online, or the desktop editor or both? What are your experiences?

Your question: "Please share some of your ideas on this! Do you prefer using the online, or the desktop editor or both? What are your experiences?" ... our answer: Thank you, thank you, thank you! Currently I only have one Prezi that I have been working on since you went from beta to professional. But it is 325 megs w/15 large FLV videos, so using online Prezi was impossible. Now I believe you have a complete program and, by the way, it is a beautiful program. One last time: thank you. dgh

It is definitely much easier to use Prezi offline.
Thanks for giving us this option.

Both. I like to use the downloaded file for class...less dependent on connection. But I like the online file so that my students can review later on!

Tip: This page still shows Export is not possible from the Desktop version:
http://prezi.com/desktop/

It also mentions you cannot upload PDF offline, does that still apply? (please reply via e-mail if I don't get automatic notification from this blog).

Hi. Tried exporting a Prezi from the desktop tool. It appears to work but when I try and open the Flash file (after unzipping everything) it tells me that my Prezi is broken and to check my internet connection. Any thoughts?

BTW, great tool, looking forward to v2

Please try again to export the file there must have been some network issue while you have downloaded.

I love using prezi-when it works! There are so many 'bugs' that it's discouraging potential users who want to pay the bucks to upgrade. Also, the support is on par with Google's - terrible! I have to follow you on twitter and read your blog to get an answer! That shows how much I want to use this tool.

I sent a zipped prezi to a client, he experienced the same 'check Internet connection' problem when opening the prezi.exe file. His Internet connection is up and running, and the very same zip file has worked flawlessly when test-launched on some colleague's desktop (winxp on both). Asking to check Internet connection (and nothing more) to play offline a prezi that was created with desktop-version ...mmm...ok. Not the most explicit error message one could come up with.

Hi, re downloaded versions of Prezi exported for offline use. When one copies or sends a prezi.exe file without the accompanying data and content files, it gives the bubble with 'check Internet connection'. If one copies across all three elements the prezi works off line.

It is a bit frustrating that one has to use the whole folder, and makes it virtually impossible to email a presentation in the export format in advance. However, it seems to me that this is the case the 'f' adobe flash file cannot be used to view the presentation on its own. If I am wrong can you please advise me.
