Grouping with Frames!

Now you can group items together in your prezi - using Frames.

How to group items within frames:
1. Add items (text, images, videos) to the prezi canvas
2. Select a frame to draw around the objects
3. Move/scale/rotate the frame and its contents together
4. To remove an object from a frame, drag the object out of the frame at any time.

OR:

1. Draw a frame on the prezi canvas
2. Drag and drop any object(s) (text, images, video) into a frame to group the objects with the frame
3. Move/rotate/scale the frame and its contents together.

To turn grouping off and move/rotate/scale the frame without the contents, Alt + Click on the frame. Note: grouping is not available with hidden frames.

You can also resize frames by double-clicking on a frame to see the four control points, and dragging the control points to change the size of the frame.

I'd like to know how to turn grouping on. Cause for hidden frame it doesn't work.

Thank you!
This feature is awesome!
That what I'm waiting for!

Hi Jenny,
grouping is not available with hidden frames.

I was just thinking last night when making a prezi how helpful it would be if things had the ability to be grouped. I wake up this morning and my dreams came true! Thanks Prezi!

I'm so glad you finally added this feature. I really like the way they work so intuitively... if it's in the frame it is part of the group.

I am interested to understand why you decided not to support it for hidden frames. I assume it is a conceptual issue, not an implementation problem.

Hidden frames would seem to be the most necessary for grouping - there are plenty of times I want to group, but don't want to see a frame. If you could add this feature, it would be great.

that's too bad! why not? anyways, very cool function!! :-)

Just in case, it is not yet working in the desktop version, isnt it?

when I play my prezi, the images are too big for the screen, even though they are in a frame. How can i adjust the size so that the entire frame fits into the screen at one time?

Great news.
I really waited for this new feature.
Thanks

G'day,

Pity it doesnt work with hidden frames, it would save the need to remove all the other frames after I'd finished the design phase.

Cheers

Hey there... New to Prezi and trying to create my first one... Can't seem to get the grouping function to work at all.. I understand that it doesn't work with hidden frames but it won't work at all for me.. Have followed the tutorial but no luck.. What am I missing??? Am working off-line and the images are gif's (although couldn't get text to move etc either...

Help...

Cheers Rob...

Hi the feature was just released to the PeziDesktop offline editor a few days later than the online version.

June 21, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterZoli Radnai

Yes. This is an editor update that makes the feature available for all prezis.

June 21, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterZoli Radnai

It had been released yesterday. Please accept the update pop-up upon starting your PreziDesktop app.

In show mode - if you have a path added to your prezi - the camera will zoom on the path steps. So if you add a path step to a frame, it will be centered in show mode when your camera zooms to that path step. If you don't add a path to your prezi, just click any object freely in show mode. Should it be a frame or any other objects, it will be centered.

Yesterday the PreziDesktop version had been relased.

That's a shame. I think prezi should rethink the logic in not enabling this feature on hidden frames. I would enjoy having the ability to use this feature with all types of frames. I hope you'll enable it as such, in the near future.

Thanks for everything though, I appreciate the hard work you guys put into this nice tool.

I am trying to drag the frame, with contents inside, and it won't move. Only the entire canvas moves. What am I doing wrong?

June 21, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterHeidi Upton

Is your frame active? It might be loced or sent backwards and some other objects are overlaying it.

June 22, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterZoli Radnai

What happened to shift-click? How do I select multiple objects? How do I maintain the aspect ratio of a frame as I create it? Grouping worked perfectly with shift-click before, and now it doesn't work at all. Do I have to create a frame around any objects I want to multiple-select to shuffle around?

I'm working on my first Prezi for a presentation tomorrow (gulp!), and it occurred to me as I was walking to work this morning that I could use the bracket frame feature to group items and set the color of the bracket to the same color as my background, thereby creating an invisible: bracket frame. Anyone try this yet?
