Prezi Shows Off Collaborative Presentation Editing in Google Wave at Google I/O 2010

Google Wave is a love child of chat rooms, email accounts and live collaboration tools. The formerly invitation based platform just went live at this year's Google I/O conference, Google's largest development event of the year in San Francisco. This year two Prezi developers Balint and Akos were invited to introduce a concept that allows Wave users to embed prezis and collaborate live.

In Wave you can embed different applications to work with. These are called gadgets. For Google I/O Prezi developed a gadget concept for Wave, which allows small groups to show prezis to each other and even edit live. Our developer, Balint introduces the Prezi Wave gadget for the reporter of The Next Web Apps. Please note that this is a demonstration of a concept right now. There’s no timeline for when or even if this will be available.

Update:

Sunday, 28 February, 10:10 AM CET: Scheduled server upgrade session has just begun. It will take aprox. 2 hours. We'll update you on the process soon.

* * * *

Dear Prezi Authors,

We’ll have to unplug Prezi.com this Sunday, February 28th from 10-12am CET (08:00-10:00am UTC), due to arrival of some exciting new cargo (so keep a close eye on the blog).

During the process, our online services will be unavailable. This means:

1. You won’t be able to reach Prezi.com, the online editor,
2. You can’t login or reach your online Prezis from PreziDesktop (offline editor available for Pro users).
3. You can still edit, and export presentations with PreziDesktop in offline mode (since the software is not necessarily connected to the internet).
4. Of course you can even show your Prezis during downtime, if you have previously downloaded them to your computer.

We will try to make this as painless as possible. Our most effective weapon to achieve this goal is transparency and support.

For this reason, we welcome your comments on @prezisupport on Twitter while our data center is offline. Once the upgrade has finished, we will notify you immediately on the blog and on Twitter as well.

Help us speed up Prezi by clicking a link

We'd like to invite you to join a short test session. Prezi has to serve lots of media (images, videos, prezis) and we would like to do it as fast as we can. Now we are looking for an even better service we will use in the future. With your help we can choose the right one. We've created a simple speed testing webpage for this purpose. It automatically loads pictures from different service providers.

Please click here, or the link below and wait for the images to show up (images were taken on a Prezi Party). The process only takes a couple of seconds: there is an automatic speed test built in, you do not have to press anything. Once the images are fully loaded, you can close the page.

Thank you for clicking and helping us to improve Prezi!
