Joi Ito, CEO of Creative Commons (the organization that provides free copyright consistent licenses for people to share and build upon the work of others) used Prezi for his talk at TEDxDubai a few weeks ago. When we reached out for him to ask about his experiences and thoughts on Prezi’s new Reuse feature, he immediately offered all his prezis for our community to reuse. Read on to learn what Joi thinks about creating a good presentation with Prezi, and feel free to reuse his prezis stored in our Library!

Server Upgrade This Sunday
Written on January 21st, 2010, by Zoli RadnaiUpdate: server upgrade finished.
Update: Hello Prezi People,
Server upgrade has begun on schedule. New stuff now loading through the pipes. Check back in 2 hours for more. We’ll update you on the process.

Dear Pezi Authors,
We’ll have to unplug Prezi.com this Sunday morning from 10-12 AM CET (08:00-10:00 UTC), due to upgrades. The goal of the process is to prepare our system for some major new stuff.
During the process, our online services will be unavailable. This means:
1. You won’t be able to reach Prezi.com, the online editor,
2. You can’t login or reach your online Prezis from PreziDesktop (offline editor available for Pro users).
3. You can still edit, and export presentations with PreziDesktop in offline mode (since the software is not necessarily connected to the internet).
4. Of course you can even show your Prezis during downtime, if you have previously downloaded them to your computer.
We will try to make this as painless as possible. Our most effective weapon to achieve this goal is transparency and support.
For this reason, we welcome your comments on @prezisupport on Twitter while our data center is offline. Once the upgrade has finished, we will notify you immediately on the blog and on Twitter as well.
Prezi at TED: James Geary Mixing Mind and Metaphor
Written on January 4th, 2010, by Zoli Radnai
The guys over at TED.com just published another great prezi from TEDGlobal conference organized back in July 2009 in Oxford. We are very happy to introduce the video recording and embedded prezi of writer and aphorism expert James Geary, who used our tool to visualize his interesting topic about the influence of metaphors on our thinking. James also kindly accepted our request to share his thoughts about Prezi and give some advices on how to deliver a successful presentation.
Check the interview and James’ embedded prezi after the jump!

How to make a good prezi – for MySpace
Written on December 14th, 2009, by Zoli RadnaiLast week at LeWeb – one of Europe’s most important internet conference organised annually in Paris – MySpace COO Mike Jones used Prezi for his keynote. News ran fast on Twitter, it seemed like everybody was chatting about Mike’s presentation, and the tool he used. Scrolling through the tweets we learned that the prezi was actually forged by Sean Percival, who among many things works as a media consultant for MySpace. Sean kindly accepted our request to share his experiences with Prezi. His most important message to our authors is: “don’t be afraid of open spaces, learn to tell your story through movement and images, not just text!”

Help us speed up Prezi by clicking a link
Written on December 10th, 2009, by hpWe’d like to invite you to join a short test session. Prezi has to serve lots of media (images, videos, prezis) and we would like to do it as fast as we can. Now we are looking for an even better service we will use in the future. With your help we can choose the right one. We’ve created a simple speed testing webpage for this purpose. It automatically loads pictures from different service providers.
Please click here, or the link below and wait for the images to show up (images were taken on a Prezi Party). The process only takes a couple of seconds: there is an automatic speed test built in, you do not have to press anything. Once the images are fully loaded, you can close the page.
Thank you for clicking and helping us to improve Prezi!

Learning Social Media Technologies in School
Written on November 27th, 2009, by Zoli RadnaiThe title above is not only for this post. It’s been made up from a tagcloud that contains the top 100 keywords extracted from public prezi’s titles and description. Here it is:

So this means these are the most common words you have used to handle your projects so far, which shows quite clearly the topics you are most interested in as well. These are education, social media and technology.
We are happy to see that our developments are going to the directions of your interest: your Prezi stories can reach a lot of people with embed, and you can spread the project on the social web as well. Learning and teaching is highly effective with Prezi, since you have everything at your fingertips, can show the big picture and zoom into the details easily. Our spatial layout helps the audience to remember more of the topic, and encourages dialog. And finally advanced technology, our common passion for new innovations that shape the way we live and interact with each other is one of the core values that drive us making Prezi even better.
